Volleyball, Equipment, Outdoor Systems For Family Fun
Volleyball is such a great game to play as a family because everyone can play. You don't need much equipment, parents and children can play together, men and women can join forces and everyone can have such a good time.
You can get good outdoor systems very reasonably at quality sporting good stores, or online. For the occasional backyard game you don't need a great set, but if you plan on using it often, it is wise to invest a bit more.
There are also beach sets and sets for the swimming pool. These ways of playing can really be a great way to enjoy the summer with friends and family.
Set up some game tables and chairs nearby, fire up the grill, set out the food and drinks and you have the makings of a great summer's day in your own special place. You have your very own family resort, right at home.
Some of the best things you can do with kids are the simple things. Besides backyard volleyball, you can play badminton, pitch horseshoes, play bocce ball, and croquet. None of these activities requires much in the way of investment or set up.
For more serious volleyball it is a good idea to have a referee, or line judge. It could be anyone in the group, just so they are fair and impartial. You will need a stand so they can see over the net and make the game more regulation.
It might also be a good idea to buy some merchandise such as knee pads, footwear such as sneakers, good socks, tshirts, shorts, and a good ball, such as a Mizuno. All of this can be found at a discount, or on sale. You don't need any custom equipment to look official, except maybe a silk-screened T-shirt.
You can play on the grass or in the sand, it just depends on what you have available. If you want to really go crazy, you can get custom sweatshirts, a professional net and ball, get some coaching, attend camps, set up practice drills to improve, and get some uniforms to look like a pro.
Most high schools have volleyball teams, and the skills you learn at school will certainly make for a more interesting game at home with friends and family.
